About Us

Leslie Veber

Veber’s Jungle Garden, Inc. is a wholesale and retail landscape nursery, specializing in South Florida native plants (principally those native to Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties), Palms, Flowering Plants, Bamboo and Wildflowers. Our plant material is mainly grown in 1-gallon to 25-gallon containers. We also provide landscape design, installation and consultation.

Leslie Veber and her father, Bill Veber, are both South Florida natives, and together started Veber’s Jungle Garden, Inc. in 1987. Leslie earned an Associates of Arts degree in 1978 from Miami-Dade Community College and was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree in 1983 from the University of Florida. While attending the University of Florida, she taught a plant identification class for students studying Ornamental Horticulture and those enrolled in the Landscape Architecture program.  In 1981, Leslie was one of twenty students in the country to be chosen as a summer intern at Monrovia Nursery in Azusa, California.

Leslie is a current member of the Florida Native Plant Society-Dade Chapter, the Association of Florida Native Nurseries, the International Palm Society, the Tropical Flowering Tree Society, the Tropical Audubon Society, and the Miami Blue Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association.  She is  a past member of the Bamboo Society and the International Society of Arboriculture. She also designed and set up the stages and street for the Miami Book Fair International, using all Florida native plants in 2009 including the stage where former Vice-President Al Gore spoke. Leslie worked as a plant inspector for Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation Department and assisted in the placement of plant material while overseeing some of the projects. In her spare time Leslie enjoys diving, fishing, camping and nature walks.
